FAQs

Q: What does BCREP stand for and how does it benefit me in a real estate transaction?

A: BCREP is an acronym for Board Certified Real Estate Professional. You've likely heard of Board Certified professionals in other fields including the medical, legal, dentistry and accounting fields. Certified professionals are widely regarded as some of the most experienced, knowledgeable and service focused individuals in their respective field. The Board for Excellence in Real Estate has created a comprehensive process whereby real estate professionals may attain Board Certified Status if they meet established criteria in Ethics, Education and Client Satisfaction. The benefit to buyers and sellers is that when they partner with a BCREP, they can have enhanced confidence that their agent is one of the most skilled and dedicated in the business.

Q: How does a BCREP differ from a Realtor®?

A: A BCREP is essentially a Realtor who has met the Board for Excellence in Real Estate's established criteria to become Board Certified. All Realtors must uphold the Ethical and professional conduct standards as outlined by the National Association of Realtors' Code of Ethics. The BCREP certification, however, takes that commitment two steps further, holding agents accountable for Education and Client Satisfaction.

Q: Once an Agent earns the BCREP, are they periodically reviewed to make sure they're still upholding BERE's high standards?

A: Absolutely. BERE is committed to promoting the highest level of education, client satisfaction and ethical behavior among real estate professionals. In that regard, BCREP agents must renew their certification status every three years. In the renewal process, BERE completes a due diligence review to ensure that the BCREP mark is not diluted by professionals who may have relaxed their commitment to excellence.
